All About Our Story
This farm has been part of my family’s story for almost 60 years, but its roots stretch back even farther than that. Before us, it belonged to a man named Charlie Brown - and yes, he really did have a dog named Snoopy. His wife was the local midwife, and some of the babies she helped bring into the world are still alive today, which makes this place feel even more connected to the generations that came before us.
Like many farms in this area settled by Dutch and German families, it began as a dairy farm. Over the years, the land changed and grew with each generation. My dad raised Hereford cattle here, and when my brother and I took over, we transitioned to Angus. These days, the pastures are home to purebred Simmentals that spend their summers here, alongside a few horses depending on the season.
What I love most is how this farm carries the fingerprints of everyone who has cared for it. Every generation has left its mark - not just in the buildings and fences, but in the stories, traditions, and memories tied to this land. It has never just been a farm to us. It’s home and we want to share it with you.
Our Charming Photo Venue
Red Barn
The Big Red Barn has stood for more than a century, its towering frame becoming an icon in this area long before any of us were born. Painted across the front are my parents’ names and their cattle brands - a reminder that this barn has always been more than just a building. It was originally a dairy barn, built strong and solid, and time has only added to its character.
Inside, the old stalls still stand, and the workbench remains cluttered with treasures gathered over generations. The barn has witnessed dozens of brandings, summer dances, late-night parties, and evenings where my brother’s cowboy poetry drifted through the rafters to a crowd listening in silence.
When you first walk inside and your eyes adjust to the darkness, you can feel the years settle around you. The workhorse teams that once filled the box stalls, the calves bottle-fed through the night, the children racing through the aisles - all of it lingers there. The memories of hardship and laughter, worry and celebration, sweat, tears, arguments, and love seem woven into the wood itself. They live alongside the familiar smells of hay, dust, oil, and manure, giving the barn a soul that can still be felt by anyone who steps through its big sliding doors.
Now the barn is beginning another chapter. Through my photography venue, new memories will join the old ones preserved within these walls. Engagements, weddings, family gatherings, newborns, celebrations, and quiet moments will all become part of the barn’s story. Long after the photos are taken, the laughter, emotion, and connection shared here will remain - adding another generation of life, love, and history to a place that has already held so much.
Greenhouse
The greenhouse will be ready by the end of July, and I’m so excited to finally bring this vision to life. We’re building it large enough to host a variety of seasonal photo sessions throughout the year, creating a space that feels warm, natural, and inviting no matter the season.
In the summer, the greenhouse will be filled with soft, gauzy white light streaming through the windows - perfect for timeless family, maternity, and couple sessions. As the seasons change, it will transform with autumn flowers, pumpkins, and sunflowers for cozy fall photos. And by Christmas, it will become a magical space for holiday sessions, complete with twinkling lights, festive décor, and visits from Santa.
More than anything, I want it to feel like a place where memories are made — a space that changes with the seasons while giving families beautiful moments to look back on for years to come.
The Land
Our land stretches across 150 sprawling acres of wild grasses, open pasture, and quiet pockets of forest. Stands of willow, poplar, and evergreen trees provide shade from the summer sun and shelter from the sharp winter winds, creating a peaceful sense of privacy no matter where you wander.
Wildlife is part of everyday life here. Deer and moose often make quiet appearances in the fields, while evenings bring the distant sounds of coyotes, frogs, and owls carried through the still country air. There’s a kind of stillness here that feels rare — the kind that makes you slow down, breathe deeper, and forget the noise of everyday life for a little while.
More than just a backdrop for photos, this land has a calming presence. It invites you to relax, be yourself, and simply enjoy the moment. My hope is that when you come here, the stress of the outside world fades away and you leave not only with beautiful photographs, but with memories of how peaceful and grounding this place felt.
